The Changing face of AIDS![]() On location in South Africa
LDP joins forces with Program for Appropriate Technologies in Health (Path) to make HIV documentary in South Africa. The face of AIDS has changed. Within the last two years women out number men as a percentage of new HIV cases. Tragically, most of these women believed they were in monogamous relationships and could not imagine suggesting condom use to their partner. Perhaps in the future women won’t have to- A jell women can use to protect themselves is in testing and with continued funding is only a few years away from the pharmacy shelf. Laughing Dog Productions was asked to make a film introducing this drug known as Microbicides. The video was shot on location in South Africa, London, Baltimore and Washington, DC. Now Laughing Dog Productions is working with the NGO Path to raise monies for a one-hour broadcast documentary. Getting the word out about Microbicides is all the more important given the announcement from the scientific community at the AIDS conference in Bangkok – All AIDS vaccines failed current testing. The world is no closer to an AIDS vaccine then it was15 years ago. Until a new vaccine is developed, Microbicides are the hope for the future. |
